CIWC Spring 2011 Trips, Social Activites, & Classes

I got a postcard in the mail today for CIWC Spring events. I made a list of the events on the right side of this blog. I didn't include skiing and canoe/bike events. There is a lot goin' on this spring.
It looks like they have Social Events on Wednesdays. (Feb 9, April 20).

Classes:
March 12 (Sat). Beginning Backpacking Class
April 23   (Sat)  Wilderness Skills Workshop

Trips
March 26 - 27 (Sat - Sun) Car Camp & Day Hike, Yellowwood State Forest
April 2 - 4       (Sat - Mon) Tecumseh Trail Backpack
April 15 - 17   (Fri - Sun) Red River Gorge Backpack, Kentucky
April 30 - May 1 (Sat - Sun) Beginning Backpacking, Shades SP

The Tecumseh Trial looks interesting. But it might be for more experience backpackers. I like the fact that out of all of these trips, only one, (Red River Gorge), I will have to take time off from work.
I'm excited! If we can get most of these if not all under our belt, it will give us a good start.

Brown County State Park Winter Hike

Here is a link to the hike:

Winter Hike

Looks like the high on Saturday is 34 degrees. There are 2 hikes we could do. A 3.5 mile and a 2.75 mile. Or both I guess. They have a breakfast and a lunch. Breakfast starts at 7a and the lunch is from 11a to 2 p.
It costs $5 per vehicle and $1 per hiker. We could meet somewhere and take 1 car so we only have to pay for 1 car.

Here is a link to the store in Bloomington.

They are open until 7p.

I found a new website on section hiker. It is called Sectionhiker.com. It has a lot to offer. A section for beginners. Food. Gear. Trails. A whole bunch of good information.
