Lunch Options

I was thinking that the next time we hike at Yellowwood that we would hike 2 loops around the lake and stop for lunch at the picnic area the second time around. Maybe we could try some lunch options. I'm looking at trying things that wont need to be heated up. One of the things I was thinking of is using flower tortillas and adding something to it. I think not setting up the stove during the hike and only use it  in the morning and evening would be best. All we would have to do is get our food out and eat it. And there might not be a good place to set up everything on the trail. But we could plan on eating at a shelter along the way.
What do you think? I am sure we will learn more from members and at events.

Hiker Hostel Registration

We are registered for 2 bunks and shuttle service at the Hiker Hostel. I sent you copies of the emails. I might have to put up a ticker so we know how many days we have until the hike. (225 days)

It is pretty exciting.

We don't have to give them any money yet. I far as I can tell, it is $17 for the bunk, shower, and breakfast. $46 for the first person and 10% for the second for the shuttle(?$4.60) to the trail head. And if we average 10 miles a day, the cost of the shuttle back to the hostel will be $76 plus 10%. And the showers will be $3 each. So the total costs would be about $176 if I figured right. (I don't know if tax is involved and if I figured  the shuttles right.) That would be $88 each.
Not bad for lodging, breakfast and transportation.

Eureka Apex 2XT Backpacking Tent

I got my new tent this week. It is an Eureka Apex 2XT. I am a little surprised that when I weighed it, it weighed 6 pounds 4.5 ounces. I set it up in the living room and Chris and I got in it. It will be ok for her and I if she ever goes backpacking. And of course Jared when he comes along.
Here is a picture.

It has 2 doors and 2 vestibules. And tall enough to sit in. I think it will work for now. It only cost me $60.
