CIWC is having an Outdoor Cooking Class on January 8, 2011. From 11:15 to 1:30 they will discuss and demonstrate a variety of approaches to outdoor cooking. This will include food dehydration, water purification techniques, stove and fuel options, food planning options such as prepared backpacking meals, grocery store items, recipes and more. We will learn about how to do dishes in the woods and how to protect food from critters. We will participate in the preparation of several recipes and enjoy a light lunch at the end of the class.
The cost is $5 and is due by December 30th. If you like, I can send in both of our registrations and fees and email the dude in charge.
This sounds like a lot of fun.

Yes go ahead and sign us up and I will pay you back.
ReplyDeleteWill do. I know you already talked about this but I wanted to put it on the blog for future reference.
ReplyDeleteI email Bob Hart the facilitator of the cooking class today. Hopefully I will hear of something soon. I asked him if we needed to be a member to attend the class. I also saw on their web page in the beginner section that they usually hike in the spring at Red River Gorge. Maybe that is something we could do.
ReplyDeleteThis is the response to my email:
ReplyDeleteHi Jay,
Not necessary to be a member, but perhaps you will consider it after you meet us. Cost of the class is very reasonable at $5 each. Send check(s) to club PO Box as listed on web site and indicate what it is for. Include your email addresses so we can follow up.
Regards,
Bob Hart, CIWC
I will send a check this week.

ReplyDeleteI sent the check for the class. You should get an email confirming soon.
